Stemmed Plants
Those little round leaves are just charming. Hydrocotyle works great as a midground accent plant or you can let it spread across the surface for a more natural, layered look. Pretty flexible grower once it settles in.
The Elodea is a fast-growing, hardy aquatic plant known for its long stems covered in dense, bright green leaves. Its simple care requirements and rapid growth make it an excellent choice for both beginner aquariums and established planted tanks.

If you want a foreground carpeting plant that actually spreads on its own without CO2; Dwarf Sag is one of the best options in the hobby. It sends out runners and fills in naturally over time. Really satisfying to watch it take over.
Bacopa is a hardy freshwater stem plant known for its thick green leaves, upright growth, and clean appearance in planted aquariums. Its simple shape works well alongside more textured or colorful plants and makes it an easy way to add height and greenery without requiring a high-tech setup.

Bacopa is forgiving of a wide range of aquarium conditions, although consistent lighting and nutrients will produce stronger, more compact growth. CO₂ isn't necessary, making it a good option for simpler planted setups.
Once the stems become too tall, they can be trimmed and the healthy tops replanted. The remaining stems can produce new side shoots, allowing a small group to become progressively denser.

A staple stem plant for a reason. Rotala has that fine, delicate look that photographs really well in aquascapes; and under decent lighting it picks up some really warm reddish tones.
Rhizom Plants & Mosses
The Water Fern is an attractive, easy-care aquarium plant with finely divided green leaves that add soft texture and natural movement to a planted tank. Mounted to a convenient clip, it can be easily positioned in the aquarium without needing to plant or disturb the substrate.
Its dense foliage provides additional cover and grazing surfaces for shrimp, fry, and small fish. Water Fern is adaptable to a variety of freshwater conditions and works especially well for adding greenery to areas where traditional rooted plants may be difficult to establish.

Java Fern is one of the most dependable aquarium plants available. It tolerates a wide range of conditions, does not require CO₂ injection, and grows well under low to moderate lighting. Its broad green leaves also provide useful cover for shrimp, fry, and smaller fish.

Java Fern feeds primarily through its leaves and rhizome rather than relying heavily on the substrate. The rhizome should never be buried, as doing so can cause it to rot. The clip keeps the plant anchored without requiring the rhizome to be planted.
As the plant matures, small plantlets may develop on older leaves. These can eventually be separated and grown into new plants.

Java Fern is common for a reason. It's hardy, adaptable, and useful in almost any freshwater aquarium. Our focus isn't on making a common plant sound rare. It's on offering healthy, established plants that are ready to go into your tank.

Ludwigia Repens (Ludwigia repens) is a colorful stem plant known for the green, bronze, and red tones it can develop throughout its leaves. It's an excellent choice for adding warmer color to a planted aquarium without requiring the demanding conditions of many high-end red plants.
Its appearance changes with growing conditions. Under moderate lighting, Ludwigia Repens often develops a mix of green and reddish tones, while stronger lighting and good nutrition can bring out much deeper reds. Regular trimming encourages branching and can turn a few stems into a dense, colorful group.

Ludwigia Repens is widely available, but we're looking for healthy stems with good leaf growth, strong coloration, and established new growth. We grow and maintain our plants in aquarium conditions so you're starting with something already accustomed to life underwater.

The Lobelia Cardinalis is a distinctive aquarium plant known for its compact growth and rounded green leaves that add a different shape and texture among traditional stem plants. Its tidy appearance makes it an excellent choice for breaking up taller stems and creating a more layered, natural-looking planted aquarium.
Lobelia can be trimmed regularly to encourage dense, bushy growth and works especially well in the foreground to midground depending on how it is maintained. It is adaptable to a variety of aquarium conditions and does not require CO₂, although stronger lighting and supplementation can encourage more compact growth.

If you're not already running Pothos in or around your tank; this is your sign. Stick the roots in the water and let them hang; and they'll pull nitrates straight out of your water column while trailing out of the tank. It's one of those things that just makes sense once you try it; and they grow like crazy.
The Java Moss is a hardy and versatile aquarium moss known for its dense green growth and ability to thrive in a wide range of freshwater conditions. It can be attached to driftwood, rocks, decorations, or allowed to grow freely, making it an excellent choice for both natural aquascapes and breeding setups.
Its fine, branching growth provides exceptional cover for shrimp and fry while creating a large surface area for biofilm and microorganisms to develop. Java Moss requires very little specialized care and can be trimmed and shaped as it grows, making it one of the most dependable plants for shrimp tanks and low-tech aquariums.

Floater Plants
Water Lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) is a floating aquarium plant known for its soft green rosettes and long, branching root systems. Compared with smaller floaters, Water Lettuce creates a much more substantial presence at the surface while its hanging roots add structure below the waterline.
Those roots are especially useful in shrimp tanks and breeding setups, where they provide a large amount of surface area for biofilm as well as cover for shrimp, fry, and other small inhabitants.

Duckweed (Lemna spp.) is one of the smallest and fastest-growing floating plants in the aquarium hobby. Its tiny green leaves spread across the water's surface, creating natural cover while pulling nutrients directly from the water column.
It's particularly useful in shrimp tanks, breeding setups, and aquariums where nutrient uptake is a priority. The dense surface growth and dangling roots provide additional grazing area for shrimp and microorganisms while giving fry a little extra cover.
Duckweed is also extremely easy to grow. In the right conditions, a small amount can turn into a substantial colony surprisingly quickly.

It's worth knowing exactly what you're getting into: Duckweed is extremely persistent. Once introduced to an aquarium, completely removing it can be difficult. For aquarists who want fast-growing surface coverage, that's one of its greatest strengths. For those who don't, another floater may be a better choice.
